And almost a 20,000 subs special ^^
I truly want to do a special at some point, but not now. Maybe at 50,000 subs? We'll see. I'll definitely do one at 100,000 subs, but I figure I still have some time till we get there ;)
For now, I celebrated with some cake :D
This is the second video in the Minidolls vs. Minifigures series and I tried to do it a bit differently from the first one. Many months have passed since I worked on this topic, and both my writing and filming have evolved since then. But I wanted the videos to still feel like they are a part of the same series, which was a bit of a challenge. And time will tell if I succeeded at that.
And I simply had to change the title and the thumbnail from the Size Matters video. Because consistency.
The last pack of Bricktober is done.
I'm, of course, not counting the City pack because it's too boring. So I didn't even bother to get it.
This one was fun to make, but in retrospect, it would have been wiser to skip it. Now it's too late and I hope the video fairs well.
There's still so much to do for my next video, but I really hope it'll be ready in a week. Because the movie is already out and I still haven't finished Sunset Shimmer.
So the monster is complete.
I didn't expect the videos for this CMF series to be this long, but I let myself go with the references and close ups and everything and this is the result.
I'm still in the experimental phase of making videos. And I don't think I'll ever get out of it. I want this channel to be a surprising delight to new and long time viewers. I'm hoping the next video will fit in that category, although I know many won't care for the topic.
It's my channel - I can make videos about whatever I want to.
My kids managed to watch this whole video from start to finish. Didn't yell it was boring, didn't want me to turn it off. High praise.
It took me a while to get this video done. Mostly 'cause I was working on another two simultaneously. Does that mean a wave of videos is coming out? No. I need to prepare for my upcoming move. We still don't know when the move is happening nor how much of a time waste it will be. And I don't wanna be offline for a whole month. Or even two.
So, I prepare.
.. but not how you think.
I decided I want to do a series of videos about the differences of figs and dolls. And I started with the size one because that's the first thing you'll notice by looking at them - the size. And I made it into a battle just because I can. I thought it would be fun and it might get decent views.
Well, I was right about the views.
People do not like it when somebody says the minifigs aren't perfect. And they let you know. Presumably, all of them because the number of (negative) comments and thumbs down is off the charts for this one.
I don't mind. This signals the Algorithm that the video is engaging and that is a good thing.
I also completely forgot to say: I have a channel trailer! I wanted to do it ever since I started the channel so I'm happy I can move that off the to-do list.
Maybe someday I'll be able to clear the whole to-do list I made at the beginning.
The not-so-secret sauce of my dollify videos: the Contraption.
This part has changed how I dollify. It has pushed the limits of what is possible and I'm so used to it in the meantime that it has become a standard tool in my toolbox. I've even used it to secure a wobbly spiral in my micro version of Atlantica.
I didn't have great hopes in regards to views for this video, so I was pleasantly surprised when it got around 25k views in the first 48 hours. I'm very curious as to how it's numbers will progress.
This one was so much more work than originally planned. My mistake. I should have foreseen that I will want to implement a digital download for it, that there will be a problem with the printer, with the upload, download, verification and that the car would break down once again.
Ok, maybe that last one isn't on me, but the others are. Maybe this time I'll learn to plan for difficulties EVERYWHERE.
